One of the highlights of the annual beer calendar is the Australian International Beer Awards dinner, a night on which beer industry figures from across the world gather in Melbourne to see who has claimed trophies in one of the planet's biggest beer competitions.
Now in their 31st year – you can read about the first 30 here and here – the 2024 AIBAs (as they're better known) culminates with the Trophy Presentation Dinner on May 16, hosted by Melbourne Royal at the Melbourne .
It's the largest annual beer competition globally that evaluates both draught and packaged beer, along with beer packaging design and beer media.
In 2024, 11 major trophies will be awarded, including the coveted Champion Australian Beer and Champion International Beer trophies, accompanied by an additional 24 category trophies.
There are also a number of refinements to the program, including two new additions to the 2023 Edition US Brewers Association Beer Style Guidelines: West Coast-Style India Pale Ale and Dessert or Pastry Stout; and New World Lager has been split into Modern Lager and Modern Pilsner.
The Trophy Presentation Dinner takes place in the iconic Victoria Pavilion at Melbourne Showgrounds and sells out every year.
