Cremorne is one of those Melbourne suburbs that you’ll probably never know exists until you stumble across it – a little pocket tucked between Punt Road, Swan Street and the Yarra that borrows a postcode from big brother Richmond. But if you like good beer, there’s one particularly good reason to make its acquaintance in the form of the Cherry Tree Hotel, a hidden gem that’s been flying the Aussie craft beer banner for some time now.

The building itself has been there for more than 100 years, with the eight taps focused on predominantly Victorian micro-brewed beer a more recent arrival. Half of them rotate regularly and are backed up by an ever-growing and changing bottle list offering up the best of Oz with quality imports from New Zealand, Europe and the US. You’ll also find more than the usual selection of longnecks on the list, which the bar offers in place of jugs.

There’s outdoor seating, a front bar that hosts raucous quiz nights in the winter months and an expansive dining area served by a second bar. On the food front, you’ll find share plates, steaks, pizzas and the like, while the predominantly Victorian wine list was awarded one wine glass in the Wine List of the Year awards. Definitely one to hunt down if you haven’t stumbled across it already.
