4 Pines presents The Evolutionary Tale of Pale Ale

The team at 4 Pines has turned into a bunch of bastards. That is to say, they've brewed a bunch of bastards.

For their biggest Keller Door series release yet, the Northern Beaches brewer has paid homage to the much loved pale ale in all its historical glory, brewing six different versions of the style and dubbing them The Bastard Children of the British Empire.

Each beer will have a different influence - from England to Belgian to the USA - and is meant to show how pale ale's influence has travelled a long way from its British origins, both within and beyond its own style guidelines. The beers being released are...

  • English IPA - 6.0% ABV / 47 IBU
  • American IPA - 6.3% ABV / 70 IBU
  • New Zealand Pale Ale - 4.5% ABV / 29 IBU
  • Australian Pale Ale - 5.0% ABV / 32 IBU
  • Belgian Pale Ale - 5.6% ABV / 19 IBU
  • 4 Pines Pale Ale - 5.1% ABV / 35 IBU

If you fancy joining the team for six pints of history, The Bastards will be launched in several cities on the following dates and locations before being released in mixed cases at good bottle stores around the country (many of which you'll find here).
