Shark Island Brewing fundraiser at the Royal Albert Hotel

A few weeks back The Crafty Pint ran a story about an equipment supplier who'd gone bust owing tens of thousands of dollars and materials to various brewers and brewers-to-be across the country. While it remains a tale with no real happy ending, some good has come in that many of the affected parties were able to come together for a brew day at Temple Brewing in Melbourne.

Now, on top of that, Shark Island Brewing - one of the badly affected businesses - is about to get their first beer to market thanks to a little help from their friends.

Having been offered the opportunity to brew a beer by their close neighbour's at Blackhorse Brewhouse, they'll be launching it at the Royal Albert Hotel on June 4th as part of a wider fundraiser.

Having heard the brewer's plight, the pub offered to help and several Aussie brewers have added their own assistance with the likes of Batch Brewing, The Australian Brewery, Young Henrys, Van Dieman and Sydney Brewery offering up fundraising kegs. Several others have thrown in merchandise and packaged beer, including 4 Pines, Dad & Daves, Rocks Brewing, Merchant Brewing, Nomad, Willie The Boatman and Feral Brewing.

Along with the launch of Shark Island's El Mono Bolas Kolsch, the first Sydney keg of the East Coast IPA collaboration brewed at Temple will be tapped and you can meet the brewers, join in a few raffles, hear some live tunes and join in what's sure to be a celebration of everything that's good about the craft brewing industry
