As far as canned beer goes, it's hard to think over another pub in Sydney which has embraced it as wholeheartedly as Surry Hills' Royal Albert Hotel. Their fridge has one of the best selections of tinnies in Sydney and, thanks to the CANimal machine, they'll send you out the door with a takeaway full of whatever they're currently pouring on tap.
So a brewery like South Australia's Pirate Life which has been winning praise for its range and sends out its Double IPA in half litre aluminium would seem to be a good fit with the Albert's offerings. Only thing is, there's been a pirate-sized hole in their fridge as you couldn't really get their beer in Sydney.
That's all changing as the brewer is finally bringing its beer to the Sydney market and, to mark the occasion, on Thursday October 8 the Pirates are boarding the good ship Albert and taking over for an evening. The taps will be flowing with bounty and the fridge will be well stocked, so head along from around 5pm and party like a pirate.
