It’ll be a proper mix of hops and grain this IPA Day as Grain Bar teams up with their friends from across the harbour at 4 Pines for a new one-off beer.
The West Coast style IPA has been called '3 Cs' for its three varieties of hops – Crystal, Chinook and Columbus – that have come from a US hop supplier not seen much in the Aussie market, Crosby Hop Farm.
In true collaborative spirit, 4 Pines’ head brewer Andrew Tweddell – who now works full time concocting small batches in the Hobbit hole of the Manly brewpub – managed to coax Grain Bar's Alexandra Dahlenburg to do all the dirty work, from hop additions to clearing out the spent malt and scrubbing the tanks.
The collective rewards will pour exclusively at Grain Bar, at the foot of the Four Seasons hotel, hitting the taps on Friday August 5 in advance of IPA Day on the Sunday. From then it’ll be on 'til it’s done, to be following with 4 Pines’ Keller Door releases.
