The Craft Beer Fight Club is returning to its roots in September as it goes back to the Dove & Olive and back to the Wednesday night format that first saw it burst onto the Sydney scene.
The brewers leading the charge will be Mountain Goat and BrewCult, both of whom have been tasked with trying to woo you by bringing their most outrageous brew – BrewCult will be packing the Milk and Two Pineapples Lactose IPA and Keep on Turckin’ Red IPA while the Goats are bringing Alfonse the India Amber Ale and the Swoop Season IPA.
The way the CBFC works is that each brewer brings two beers which are served on their own, but with a brewer or rep on hand to talk you through it, talk about their brewery and generally talk up why their beer is so much better than the ones that've been brought along by the other guys. At the end of four rounds of increasingly fun and partisan enjoyment, you get to decide on your favourite beer of the night, the winner goes on tap at the venue for the next month and the winning brewery gets to lift the coveted Golden Growler.
Throughout the evening there’s plenty of prizes, a label art competition and all manner of good beer banter.
There are two types of ticket, depending your level of thirst:
- A Heavyweight ticket gets you four schooners of beer
- A Featherweight ticket gets you four middies
These evenings get pretty popular so you’re advised to book ahead to avoid missing out.
