The Australian Beer Festival at The Australian Hotel is one of the longest-running and most well attended events of its kind in the country, and for good reason.
Each October they close off a couple of streets in the historic heart of The Rocks, set up long rows of tents, install some taps and get dozens of local brewers to come along and fill them up. This year there will be 30 different Australian producers so the number of beers available is likely to beer at least three times that many.
You'll be able to while away your time tasting beers, talking to brewers, doing blind tastings, enjoying some gourmet food (or the pub pizzas) and listening to the live music.
There are Friday, Saturday and Sunday sessions as follows:
- Friday 14th: 4pm to 8pm
- Saturday 15th: 12pm to 8pm
- Sunday 16th: 12pm to 6pm
It's free to wander in, look around and enjoy the vibe, but if you want to try some beers you'll need a festival glass. These can be bought on the day for $35 (which includes a set of ten tasting tokens), or you can book online in advance here.
