The monthly Ale Stars evening at The Local Taphouse is one of Australia's most beloved regular beer events. Attracting a mixture of beer lovers, both old and new, it's a fun and interesting way to learn about everyone's favourite beverage.
Based on a different theme every month - usually a brewery, country or beer style - the event takes you on a happy, sometimes hoppy jaunt around the beer world, complete with food, quizzes and plenty of good banter.
Leading the way, you'll have a brewer on hand to entertain with stories, expertise, insight and - most importantly - to tell you about the beer you're drinking. Although, for something a little different, this month the host won't be a brewer but a cheesemonger.
Laura Lown from Milk The Cow will be guiding guests through four cheeses she's chosen to pair with four very varied beer styles. The pairings line up like so:
- Oskar Blues Dale's Pale Ale (USA) paired with Midnight Moon (Netherlands)
- Stomping Ground Upside Down Brown Ale (VIC) paired with Montgomery Cheddar (UK)
- Sierra Nevada Otra Vez Gose (USA) paired with BellaVitano Merlot (USA)
- Fuller's Golden Pride (UK) paired with Vella Dry Monterey Jack (USA)
Tickets are $45 which gets you all the beer, cheese and banter you'll need in an evening.
