Murray's Winter Blues and Dark Brews (NSW)

Winter is generally a pretty special time of year to visit Murray's Brewery in Port Stephens as the cooler months mean they unleash their annual barrage of imperial stouts. Beers like Wild Thing and Heart of Darkness have become cult favourites in beer circles and they'll both be returning when the brewery hosts some Winter Blues festivities over the June long weekend.

Those beers will be joined by two more one-offs – a Cinnamon Chocolate Donut beer and Vanilla Imperial Stout – while the restaurant will be serving up gluttonous one kilogram piles of dark beer marinated ribs to keep you both warm and full.

On the stage, you'll be able to enjoy the sounds of legendary Aussie artist Grant Walmsley Freebird (Sunday at 12:30pm) and the blues of local lad Tom Blake (Saturday at midday) – both of which are excellent value concerts as they're entirely free.

And, to make things even easier, there's a brewery shuttle bus running from Nelson Bay – it costs $5 and you'll need to book in advance by calling 4982 6411.
