Hip Hop Hooray IPA Festival
Thu 23-08-12, 4:00pm - Sun 26-08-12, 1:00am
One of the newest additions to the Melbourne craft beer scene is calling all hop fiends for its first event.
The Hip Hop Hooray Festival will see the taps taken over for three days by a cavalcade of hop heavy treats including the Hip Hop Hooray IPA from Mountain Goat made for the brewery manager’s recent birthday.
There will be at least half a dozen tap beers aimed fairly and squarely at hopheads with the rest featuring specialty beers and one-offs.
They’re keeping the tap lineup under wraps for now, but a little arm-twisting suggests you can expect some love from the West Coast of the US, black IPAs, hop bombs and possibly even a touch of barrel and cask action.
UPDATE: Here’s the tap lineup:
Holgate Brewhouse Hopinator
Bridge Road Brewers single hop “Galaxy” IPA
Feral B.F.H. (Barrel Fermented Hop Hog)
Dry hopped White Rabbit Brewery Dark Ale
Mornington Peninsula Brewery Red Imperial IPA
West Coast IPA – Green Flash Brewing
Mountain Goat Beer Hip Hip Hooray IPA
Temple Brewing Company black Midnight IPA
Beer Here Hoptilicus – Barley Wine / Imperial IPA hybrid
Murray’s Icon 2IPA
Little Creatures Brewing Victoria secret hopped Firkin
And one yet to be announced keg…
The kitchen will be serving up some IPA-friendly dishes throughout the weekend, while there will be live music and “beer prizes” too, apparently.
The Alehouse Project is at 98 Lygon Street, Brunswick East.
