Competition: Win A Taste Of The Tropics

The Australian beer industry is a colourful place. There are brewers inspired by the traditional beers of Germany, Belgium and the UK. There are others taking their lead from the States. There are those creating their own new styles. And then there’s Matso’s, who love nothing more than adding the fruits of their region to beer: ginger, mango, desert lime, even chilli.

And just in time for summer they’ve popped their Ginger Beer into cans for the first time, with the 3.5 per cent sweet and spicy quaffer appearing in 15-can slabs.

Brewery owner Justin Wiebrecht says the idea originally came from wanting to supply mine sites that only allow drinks with a maximum of 3.5 per cent and others that only take cans, but has since taken off. They’re now hitting up sports grounds, festivals, concerts and trade shows – and, on the day we’ve added their brewery listing to our directory pages, have offered us five slabs to give away.

To be in with a chance of winning one, email crafty@craftypint.com with GRABASLAB in the title and tell us where Matso’s is based.

We’ll pick five winners at random on November 28, 2013, at which point Justin will send the slabs to the winners' homes along with a cap and stubby holder.

“This ‘SLAB’ is really convenient for camping, fishing, sailing, if you’re travelling or simply going to the beach,” he says. “In all these situations a can is always easier to carry and dispose of than a stubby.”

Usual competition rules, which are in the About section, apply.
