It's not beer, but it's work for a brewing company, as Young Henrys decides it's not enough to have taken over Sydney's inner west or to have set its sights on taking over the rest of Australia. Nope, it's moving into spirits too!

JOB DESCRIPTION: MASTER DISTILLER

Young Henrys is looking for a Master Distiller to join their team, which is making some of the country's best craft beer and cider. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a new business arm of an established but fast growing, innovative, and dynamic company. The role is based in Newtown, NSW, Australia.

Young Henrys is in the process of developing a unique spirits range having carried out extensive product development and market testing of their Gin and Moonshine products. The successful candidate will be empowered to feed into this process and work with the company's leadership group to build upon and extend this range. A brand new 2000L, 20 plate column still with 2 Gin Baskets is licensed, installed and will be ready to use in January 2015. All Wash will be created from grain using a state of the art mash-press and fermented onsite allowing for end-to-end control of the entire process with support from an experienced brewing team.

Young Henrys is a close knit company and the successful candidate will have drive, a sense of humour, love of good music, a healthy but in-check ego, and a fascination with of all things craft along with the required skills and experience. This is a senior role that will require working with the leadership group of the company in a flat structured organisation that recognises the voices of dedicated, hard working and passionate employees.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Tertiary education in distilling or related sciences.
  • Minimum of 3 years commercial experience in distilling potable alcohol.
  • Leadership experience with demonstrated achievement of KPIs.
  • Ability to efficiently run a still maintaining high quality of output.
  • Knowledge of effective CIP practices.
  • Ability to perform and implement QC tests and procedures.
  • Well-developed sensory skills
  • Willingness and ability to represent the company at functions and events.
