The Victorian Microbreweries Showcase kicks off at Fed Square later today, with one of the biggest lineups of exhibitors yet. As in the past, entry costs $25 per person, which gains you entry and 20 tasting tickets that can be redeemed at any of the exhibitors' stalls. With temperatures set to hit 28C and the past couple of events having sold out, it might be advisable to get there early if you haven’t already purchased your ticket.
New to this Showcase is an additional session taking place in the BMW Edge, a separate venue within Fed Square you can find at the rear of the Atrium. The Crafty Pint will be hosting a “Meet The New Brewers” panel type event from 6.30pm tomorrow (Thursday, October 20). We will have brewers from new breweries Cavalier, Black Heart and Forrest onstage as well as Jon Seltin, the new recruit at Bright Brewery in the Victorian High Country. The aim is to allow them to tell you a little about themselves, their breweries and their beers and for you to be able to ask any questions you might have in a laid back environment. With recent Showcases having become so popular, it has become increasingly hard for punters to get much time to talk to the brewers so hopefully this gives both parties the chance to gain a little extra from the event.
Anyone who has a ticket for the main showcase can gain entry to the BMW Edge for no additional cost. The aim is to keep it short and sweet at around half an hour so there is plenty of time to return to the Atrium to redeem the remainder of your tasting tickets.
In the meantime, if you haven’t already seen it – or are about to visit your first Showcase – here’s a short film we shot at the last one in March with Alister Robbie of The Post Project.
See you tomorrow!
