Crafty Six GBW Special #3: Country Life

Having enjoyed a great evening in the company of MPs and staffers from the Victorian government last night, sharing the good news story that is craft beer alongside the Craft Beer Industry Association, it seems only right to make today's Good Beer Week preview one that focuses on the regional events.

Already, the Jester King event at The Dispensary Enoteca is all but sold out, tickets have been flying for the Meet The Brewers with Bridge Road at The Mallow in Ballarat and there's only a handful left for 8 Wired's collaboration brew day at Mornington Peninsula.

Elsewhere there are plenty of opportunities to sample the best of regional Victoria – and not just beer either. The events below feature the best of the state's produce from farms, wineries and more besides, as well as a visit from one of the UK's finest craft breweries too.

You can check out all of our themed previews here.

Click on the event titles below to view their full listing on the GBW site.

Blackman's & Camden Town's Street Food Degustation

Blackman's Brewery, Torquay – May 16
$75pp

Before opening Blackman's in Torquay brewer Renn Blackman was a well travelled brewer. Among his previous employers was London powerhouse Camden Town whose founder Jasper Cuppaidge is calling in for a feast based around their beers and the launch of their first collaboration.

Grain vs Grape Dinner

Holgate Brewhouse, Woodend – May 16
$120pp

Holgate founder Paul Holgate invites winemaker Phil Moraghan from Curly Flat, who provide the barrels for the brewery's sour program, to dinner. The pair will be going head to head over each course trying to prove their wares are the perfect pairing.

Beach vs The Valley: Taste The Beers, You Decide!

Kelly's Bar & Kitchen, Olinda – May 17
$50pp

The homely craft beer haven in the hills that is Kelly's invites Southern Bay into the house to pit their beers against the best the Yarra Valley has to offer. Taste them, tuck into some food, and vote for who brews the best: the brewers of the valley or the beach.

Hop vs Grape

Black Dog Brewery / Taminick Cellars, Glenrowan – May 16
$120pp

The one-of-a-kind annual dinner at Black Dog sees fourth generation winemaker and first generation brewer pit his wines against his beers over five courses prepared by Adam Pizzini of Rinaldos Casa Cucina. It takes place amid the oak barriques in the stunning old winery building at Taminick Cellars.

Crowes Nest Paddock to Plate

Otway Central, Lavers Hill – various dates
$85pp

To mark the launch of their second beer, Crowes Nest is holding a series of dinners at Otway Central where they will showcase the best of the local region in a paddock to plate and paddock to pint experience.

Macedon's Finest

Royal George Hotel, Kyneton – May 16
$110pp

Kyneton's myriad-tapped craft beer haven, the Royal George, will be showing off beers from its local brewers – Holgate, 7 cent, Three Troupers, Brookes and Tooborac – as well as some of the region's best wineries in a degustation feast.
