Statement On Temple's Liquidation

A little over a week ago, word reached The Crafty Pint that Temple Brewery & Brasserie had gone into voluntary liquidation. This sad news was leavened by a conversation with one of the owners who assured us that they were working on a plan to buy their brewery back. As such, we decided to keep the information private and await what we hoped (and still hope) will be a happy ending.

In the short time since they opened in December 2011, Temple has produced some fantastic beers and we’ve been lucky enough to work with them on projects such as the People’s Pint. The founders are lovely people who set exacting standards for themselves and their beers and who have added colour and diversity to the Australian craft beer scene with their unique venue and immaculately crafted beers.

As such, when we were approached by the liquidators asking to advertise the sale of the brewery assets on The Crafty Pint we refused and explained that it is our hope that they are successful in their attempt to buy back the business into which they have poured their lives. However, other media sources have now published the advert. This has prompted the following statement from Ron and Renata Feruglio, the founders of Temple.

“With news of Temple’s liquidation becoming public this week, we wanted to take some time to explain the situation.

“Firstly, an incredible thanks to each and every one of you who has expressed sadness at the news and offered your assistance. We appreciate it more than you can imagine during what is a very stressful time for all of us.

“But most importantly, we wanted to let you know where we’re at and where we’re heading. We don’t plan on going anywhere.

“Temple is in this position following a partnership disagreement that forced us into voluntary liquidation. We are committed to buying back our brand, our brewery and our business, and ensuring that we continue along the path of achieving the dream that started this whole thing back in 2005 – to brew exceptional beer.

“To keep updated on progress, or to express your support, please follow Renata on Twitter.”

As some of you will be aware, Temple had registered an event for Good Beer Week. We are still hopeful that the Great Beer Buffet will go ahead. Expect a decision soon.
