I’ve always thought of the pear as the apple’s ugly cousin. A pomoideae (yes, I had to Google that) that's less crisp and punchy than its fellow fruit and offers less variety. But Molly Rose have shown what a star the pear can be by getting their hands on Packham and Bosc in autumn and letting them age on a barrel-fermented saison for the ensuing months.
Let's be real; Pare Pair Pear is certainly not the most beautiful beer you’ll drink, with the saison pouring an off-brown with a tinge of purple. But what it lacks in visual appeal, it more than makes up for with a flavour profile that's incredibly crisp and juicy at once. In other words, imagine going straight from biting into a fresh pear to drinking some homemade juice, while layers of clove and spice carry through on the palate. It turns out, pears are just perfect for spring and for saison.
