For all the ups and downs experienced by the beer world since the turn of the decade, there appears to be at least one thing you can rely upon: as summer approaches, breweries send hazy pales out into the world. It's something we're witnessing again in late 2024 – maybe not to the same extent as in previous years, but still notable.
Among those joining in the fun are Capital Brewing. Of course, they're no strangers to the hazier realms of beer, with their Hang Loose Juice long one of drinkers' favourite hazy IPAs, now set to become an occasional release as the more sessionable Haze Oasis hazy pale joins their year-round offering.
They call it "full of tropical juicy flavours" and they're not wrong. Give it a swirl and sniff and you're hit by plenty of citrus and pineapple but it's arguably the background hint of coconut on the nose to which you should pay the most attention. That's because, as soon as you knock it back, it dives off the high board straight into piña colada territory. Indeed, if you were told a splash of water straight from a freshly-hewn young coconut had been added to each can you wouldn’t be surprised. And, ensuring it's got repeatability too, there's a fair bit of drying bitterness wrapping things up.
The Capital Brewing hazy is dead. Long live the Capital Brewing hazy!
