Nelson is a region renowned globally for its hops (apparently, the grapes aren't too shabby either), but Molly Rose Brewery have their own import from New Zealand’s South Island. He might not be as globally famous (but there’s still time), but Tashee is a key part of the brew crew, and to celebrate him, NZ hops, and haze, Molly Rose have released Nelson Shines.
And shine it certainly does; the hazy is packed with a mix of mango, nectarine, guava, and gooseberry. Imagine the fruit notes you might get from a particularly vibrant Pinot Gris mixed with some actual tropical fruit and you’re on the right track. A slight spice comes through too and even though it might be expected for a hazy IPA, Nelson brings a particularly lush and full-bodied mouthfeel for a beer that weighs in sub-6.0 percent.
