The Crafty Pint has spent a good portion of 2024 harping on about how some breweries are turning back to the classics and we've got some fellow travellers in Bonehead Brewing. The Melbourne brewery's Brewhouse Series is devoted to more classic craft styles and their Belgian Witbier even harks back to Bonehead's past, with Half Wit Hero an early part of their lineup.
It's a beer that serves as a reminder that in a craft beer age often dominated by hops and where summers still see kettle sours soar, there are more traditional styles that can do wonders in the heat. This Belgian wit is such a beer, with the flavours of coriander, orange peel, and cloves providing a refreshing spice combination that's dialled up thanks to a distinct touch of lemon. It also pours as textural as any hefeweizen and given Germans more or less invented beer gardens, they had to have known a thing or two about the right mouthfeel for summer right?
