They come up with good names for their beers do the guys at Big Shed. Admittedly, if you're not aware of the Sellers / Kubrick classic Dr Strangelove you may well think this one is a reference to the sort of passion that would make the subject of a late night doco on SBS 2. It isn't. Although when you discover just what it is, the mind may boggle regardless.
Dr Shedlove is the title of a beer brewed in collaboration with Sydney's arch-collaborator Darren "Doctor's Orders" Robinson. So far, so good. However, given the latter is a man not shy to use squid ink in his beers, things do turn a little odd insofar as they've created an Imperial Sweet Potato Stout Saison. It's not the first sweet potato beer we've come across (Coedo's rich, strong lager Beniaka takes that crown) but it's certainly the most out there.
The Big Shed boys tell us it's "a beer so dark that no light can escape its surface. Enjoy the sweet saison and allow yourself to revel in Dr Shedlove’s dark side and his obsession with root vegetables, dark malts, whisky barrels and C2H60*."
The collaboration is set to become an annual thing too so who knows where Dr Shedlove's War Room discussions could end up...
