Tropical is right. Tallboy’s biggest beer offering (at least among its core range) looks to the US for its inspiration, producing an IPA driven by citrus notes of pineapple and orange thanks to its classic combination of Mosaic, Chinook and Columbus hops.
With them comes a bitterness that lasts and lasts as you drink deeper, balanced with touches of Munich and crystal malts. Those malts lend themselves generously to the deep copper colour and allow for an upkick of sweetness in the tail, but hops are the name of the game here.
According to the Tallboy and Moose team, this 7.6 percent ABV IPA was aggressively hopped from start to finish, and it shows, with the initial pineapple aroma rounding out into a generous serving of citrus and floral aromas. Medium in body and sharp to the end, they couldn’t have found a better name for their ode to the West Coast.
