The latest in this series showcasing the native produce of Stone & Wood’s home region of Northern New South Wales is the most colourful to date – in every sense. To an American wheat beer base, the brewers this year added Northern Rivers finger limes and river mint along with sour cherries and the brewery's beloved Galaxy hops.
We reckon it’s the finger limes that dominate the aroma first up, adding a lively citrus character to that of the hops, supported by a sherbety sweetness and something strawberry like, while the sour cherries do the bulk of their work elsewhere. They add a tart rosé like fruitiness to the flavour, which is fitting as they also lend the beer the colour of a rosé wine. There’s a herbaceous side to the dry finish in a beer we can picture being enjoyed on many a deck this summer.
