Summer tropical vibes are pouring out of the Clare Valley brewery as summer prepares to transition into spring, with not one but two new limited releases taking a juicy approach to slaking your thirst: a 6.5 percent ABV single hop hazy IPA and a Berliner Weisse laced with mango.
The Hazy Mosaic enters the glass a deep golden colour – hazy rather than murky – with a thin wispy white head. The Mosaic hop goes about its business well, with juicy passionfruit aromas so strong they're reminiscent of a freshly pulped fruit. The tropical vibes continue during the first sip as mango joins a party in which the juiciness flows through to a medium bitterness and dryish finish.
As for the Berliner Weisse, the mango was added late in the ferment, contributing a little haziness to a super light yellow beer in which carbonation is on the spritzy side, adding a certain zing to proceedings. The mango is prevalent in the aroma albeit slightly more subdued in the flavour where sourness is the prime mover. A medium body helps deliver a beer that's rather quaffable, making for a pair of releases that encourage the drinker to lap up an endless summer.
