Deeds Brewing Fortune & Glory & The Traveller

Deeds Brewing

Released July 22nd, 2019

They might both be hazy double IPAs that sit at 8 percent ABV, but these two releases from Deeds Brewing show how well murky beers can shine a light on different hop profiles. Fortune & Glory was originally brewed a few months ago to mark the launch of the Deeds’ Glen Iris brewery. Even though it was a small keg run, the beer’s popularity soon made it clear to the brew team it deserved to enjoy a wider release in cans. What likely drove that popularity was the beer’s smooth body and hopped up mix of Warrior, Citra and Amarillo, which provides a mix of guava, orange and pineapple with some floral notes against a substantial bitterness.

By comparison,The Traveller is far less bitter, while also being a little paler and thicker too. The beer was brewed with the crew at Carwyn Cellars, who must have been rigorously taking notes during their recent trip to the States. The combination of Mosaic and Nelson Sauvin hops melds together for a fresh combination of tropical fruit, candied mango, kiwi fruit, lime and a host of other flavours that can slowly be uncovered as the beer's explored. It’s a holiday to Vermont packed inside 440ml can.
