The launch of the new look Hawkers core range in 2019 was completed by this IPA. As with the new Pale Ale that landed at the same time, it's a leaner and hoppier affair than the original bottled IPA with which the brewery launched in 2015. Out go some of the specialty malts to reduce the beer's sweeter side, in come more hops.
On the hop front, it's an array of New World big-hitting crowd-pleasers: Simcoe, Mosaic, Centennial, Citra and Nelson Sauvin. So, as you can well imagine, it's punchily aromatic, with plenty of tropical fruit characters leading the way, a little dank pine underneath and a bitterness that comes with some resinous bite. The intention was to move with the times – and heaven knows how fast they move – and we're pretty sure drinkers tucking into the Quality Street like cans will find the brewers have captured the spirit of the contemporary (non-hazy) IPA just right.
