Two Birds Brewing Warrior Woman 2021: Juicy Pale Ale

It's not hard to work out why Two Birds call their annual International Women's Day release Warrior Woman. But it is the sort of name that suggests any beer under the banner should have a little fire in its belly. So, what of 2021's release, one that's very much in a style du jour?

It's tagged a Juicy Pale Ale – one of the terms that floats in a similar space to hazy pale or East Coast pale, as we addressed recently here and here. And this one certainly has a little fire in its belly, pumping heaps of the pineapple and citrus (mainly zesty grapefruit) into your schnozzle – with some sherbety pine like a fresh APA of a few years back for company, I reckon. The drying, herbal bitterness might not seem “juicy”, but imagine the way a glass of freshly squeezed grapefruit juice crosses your palate and it’s that kind of finish.

Given what's going on in wider Australian society as IWD 2021 approaches, there's arguably never been a better time to salute the warrior women challenging the status quo. If you choose to salute them with beer in hand, this is a tasty way in which to do so.
