The essence of a brewpub is about keeping things local, and that's certainly the case with Seasonal’s collab with Commune Wine. In fact, without the Midland line separating them, the pair would be near neighbours, and what libation would imbibe a neighbourly catch up better than a Session IPA?
Sure, you might like to go larger but, really, you both know it’s better to keep things easy breezy lest there be some awkwardness when taking the bins out. In line with this, the collab rolls peachy with pithy grapefruit and tropical touches, and a tight yet approachable bitterness. It all comes in at a respectable sub-4 percent ABV too, which leaves Incitatus to start the party.
The double dry-hopped IIPA is described by head brewer Brodie Watt as being a beer that “does what it says on the packet”. Although this might be downplaying it somewhat, as that packet more likely reads "a straight ahead, well balanced, fleet-footed IIPA that hides its booze like a magician, and just happens to be DDH. Expect no haze, strawberry, stonefruit, but maybe a spot of googling about Caligula’s favourite horse and its flirtation with Roman politics."
