Tssst. Clink. Glug glug glug. Ahhhhhh.
When NORT founder Jaz Wearin was developing their flagship Refreshing Ale, she thought about all the things she wanted out of a non-alcoholic beer as opposed to a different non-alcoholic drink.
“I was after something that tasted like beer,” she says, “but also, if you’re going to be drinking a non-alc beer, you want those cues. Opening the lid, cheers-ing with glass. Then the aroma, which is hard with a non-alc. Mouthfeel. Bitterness - need a slight hint of it. This is not a soft drink, not a carbonated beverage; I want it finishing like a beer.”
If you pour it into a glass, you’ll see that Refreshing Ale is golden and bright. You can smell the subtle hop aroma, taste the light grain character, feel the bitterness tapping away through the malt body…
But anyone who enjoys a simple, refreshing beer should just take the lid off the bottle (or crack the top of the can, if you’ve picked up Refreshing Ale tinnies), stick it into a stubby holder, and get drinking. After you’ve cheers-ed your mate, of course.
