With the benefit of hindsight, those of us on the East Coast who've been through multiple extended lockdowns should have fully expected the planet to serve up a rotten spring as soon as we were able to travel and get together with friends and family again. After all, if the progression from 2019 ("Roll on, 2020!") through 2020 ("Well, at least we've made it through the worst...") to 2021 ("Are you fucking kidding?") has taught us anything right now, it's to expect the worst, at least until enough of us wake up to Gaia's pretty bloody obvious message.
Anyway, the point? Something to do with heading out and getting together with people for the sort of sunny springtime catch up for which Fury & Son's Strawberry & Plum Sour is designed. Pouring with a hint of colour from the fruit β less strawberry red than plum flesh β it has an aroma like the stewed fruit from a summer crumble; indeed, if you told me there was rhubarb in the mix Iβd believe you. Sour enough on the nose and tart more than puckering to taste, with a spritzy acidity and roundedness that belies its lowish ABV to finish, itβll be a welcome addition to many a picnic this summer. Should one arrive.
Roll on 2022, anyone?
