A year ago, Tumut River brewer Bert got married, and the brewery made a beer to celebrate the occasion: Bert’s Honey. This year, they’ve made another version of the beer to celebrate Bert and Kat’s anniversary, complete with gushing dedication on the label by TRBC owner Tim.
A little recipe tweaking of last year’s version - and the use of regular carbonation this year instead of nitro - has helped this choc honeycomb beer shine. Vanilla, honey and milk chocolate are all there on the nose, and they come together in the mouth with a velvety body and restrained condensed milk sweetness. Meanwhile, the toffee malt is present from start to finish, bolstered by the additions rather than being overpowered by them.
Happy anniversary, Bert and Kat!
