If you haven't yet made plans for Oktoberfest, there's always hope. As in, there's always Hope Estate which is putting on its annual Oktoberfest event in the gorgeous surrounds of the Hunter Valley.
Over the weekend of September 30 and October 1 they'll be hosting a family friendly event featuring German inspired beer, masterclasses, feasts and even grand final footy.
On the beer front the brewhouse will be putting out some of its lovely German releases, such as the Hefeweizen and Munich lager, and serving them up in stein-sized portions.
They'll be setting up a beer hall in which to host masterclasses on both days (midday, 1:30pm and 3:30pm, if you need to put something in your calendar) as well as a three course Bavarian style lunch featuring traditional items like pork knuckle, schnitzels and strudels. There'll also be food stalls along with the usual burgers and pizzas will be available from the brewhouse cafe.
For those following the footy finals they'll be showing both the AFL and NRL grand finals on big screens on both days (in between live music sets) and you can keep the kiddies entertained with a jumping castle, face painting and kiddies food and drink (not from steins).

The festival runs from 11am to 7pm on both days.
