As the global state off bee populations continues to be a cause of concern for anyone who likes eating food, urban beekeeping has become an increasingly accepted practice.
Among those working to bring more local honey into our cities is Benedict from The Practical Beekeeper who looks after 100 hives in the Darebin area of Melbourne's north.
To showcase the local honey produced in their neighbourhood, the team behind Preston's Tallboy & Moose have partnered with The Practical Beekeeper to create a beer. Practically Bier is a Belgian style witbier (white/wheat beer) brewed with 40kgs of local honey added in the boil with some added chamomile in the whirlpool.
For those that are particularly keen on their local honey and beer, Tallboy will also be hosting a honey and beer masterclass at 6:30pm on launch day. Benedict and the brewing team will walk you through four unique honeys and four different beers all for $15 per ticket.
