A long, long time ago (well, 2011, which is pretty much several millennia ago in beer terms) Melbourne's Moon Dog released a series of beers called the Magnificent Mullets.
It was a selection of fruity, tart wheat beers named after some of the great mullet-growers of the world.
The wonderfully named Melon Gibson (now reinvented as Melon DeGeneres), Billy Ray Citrus and MacGuava, helped cement the still-young brewery's reputation as makers of unusual beers with a fondness for a daft pun.
For many beer geeks, the beers could easily have been the first such beers they'd tried from a local brewery so we'd wager the chance to revisit the series – this time in tinnies – will be warmly welcomed.
The new look Magnificent Mullets will be launching at the Abbotsford brewery on February 15, with Little Rebel Barbershop shaving mullets on the night between 6pm and 9pm and prizes for those willing to go under the clippers.
