Say cheers to charity.
Stone & Wood's Backyard Invitational Gold Coast is an all-inclusive beer education and fundraising event complete with industry talks, masterclasses, food trucks and live music.
A range of independent Aussie breweries will be coming together, along with two Northern Rivers distilleries and a local kombucha producer, to share their products with you and chat about their wares.
NB The event is now being run as one extended session from 2pm to 6.30pm rather than two sessions*.
The masterclasses led by Luke "Ale of a Time" Robertson will demonstrate using native ingredients and talk about how honey and fruits are used in beer and spirits, leaving attendees with a take-home sample.
There will also be two featuring speakers from the attending breweries and distilleries, who’ll together discuss sour beers and dark beers and their current popularity.
Complementing the beer, gin and kombucha tastings will be food truck Pequeña Cocina and JR Smokehouse, plus live vinyl DJ sets from Huggy Per and Acid Joe.
Tickets cost $60, and include entry to the festival, all beer, access to talks and masterclasses, a take-home beer cup and a $5 food truck voucher. Profits will be directed to the Gold Coast chapter of national homeless services charity Orange Sky via Stone & Wood’s InGrained Foundation.
Surfstitch Warehouse, 225 – 227 Burleigh Connection Road, Burleigh Waters
* When announcing the switch to one session, Stone & Wood said: "We understand the single extended session won’t work for everyone, so if people can’t make it, they’re entitled to a refund through Eventbrite." Head here if you want a refund.
