As part of their epic, 24-day, 12 new beers Oktoberfest in 2019, Burnley Brewing are hosting a lager masterclass.
Head brewer Michael Stanzel, who learned the brewing trade in Germany, will be showcasing some of the beers made in accordance to the Reinheitsgebot (German Purity Law) for their Oktoberfest while sharing his expertise in traditional German brewing techniques.
Michael is the first Australian to attain the Brewer and Maltster Apprenticeship at Germany's celebrated Ferdinand von Steinbeis, a three-year qualification completed in a boarding school setting, and spent six years finessing his skills in Germany before returning home to Melbourne.
During the class he will explain the craft of German brewing techniques, the value of allowing a beer to fully lager, what the Purity Law actually means as well as homebrewing tips and tricks.
