Wolf of the Willows Lark Barrel Aged Imperial JSP 2020 Launch

The third edition of Wolf of the Willows and Lark Distillery's Barrel Exchange Project beer is set for imminent launch and the forecast a few days out suggests a rather luscious experience.

The beer at the centre of the fuss has the offical title of Lark Barrel Aged Imperial Johnny Smoke Porter III, a hulking concoction that tips the scales at 12.8 percent ABV.

Without getting into the minutiae of its creation, to get to be the way it is the original imperial Johnny Smoke Porter (JSP) spent nine months in Lark whisky barrels, and that alone should be more than enough to pique your interest. Read our take on the beer here.

(As a kind of prologue, the barrels went back to the distiller to be filled again with a small batch single malt that's set to appear under the name The Wolf Release 2020.)

The beer is getting an almost-simultaneous multi-state release, with the lucky venues below lining up their sole keg of the beer for Saturday, August 1.

*The Tassie venues will be tapping their kegs a little later than those on the mainland – your best bet is to keep an eye on socials for the updates.

And if you're not near one of the launch venues, you can preorder 440ml cans online direct with the brewery or have a chat to your nearest top-notch indie bottleshop and see if it's headed their way.
