Omicron might have put paid to plans or GABF Geelong to run in January, but you can't keep one of the country's best beer festivals down that easily.
The organisers had already booked in a backup date just in case, and are bring the party to the regional city over two sessions on April 2 instead, promising to bring Johnstone Park to life in their inimitable fashion.
Expect to enjoy hundreds of beers and ciders that have been produced all over the country, food ranging from the vegan-friendly to the slow-smoked-and-definitely-not-vegan, and a long lineup of entertainment that takes in a main stage hosting multiple bands and a Piano Bar that doubles as a home for beer masterclasses and tastings.
Those with organisational skills and foresight can reserve a table for a group of eight friends, which will set you up nicely for a leisurely day with extra comfort and shade, while Tiffany Waldron will be hosting chats with brewers at the Barrett Burston Brewers Table.
This year you've got the choice of two sessions – 11am to 4pm or 5pm to 10pm – so you can pick a time that works best, or that takes in the bands you most want to see.
There is, of course, the option of doing two sessions which, given the festival drought in recent times, seems a perfectly acceptable thing to do. And, of course, all sessions will be COVID-safe and cashless.
