Given the state of, well, pretty much everything these days, breweries have been hard up against it when it comes to coaxing people from the relative safety of their homes and back into the warm bosom of their venues. But sometimes all it takes is something a little special. Something like a Raw Ale.
Three years in the planning and making, this collaboration between 3 Ravens and Denmark's Beer Here is a true one-off, featuring a "no boil" brewing method, raw grains, aged hops, mixed culture barrel fermentation and extended lees contact; in other words, this is a long way from your average beer.
After a 30 month rollercoaster ride of flavour and fermentation, the beer moved from "no longer offensive" to "actually pretty good", so it was blended again and bottle conditioned for a further six months. And now, here we are.
You can join 3 Ravens head brewer Brendan O'Sullivan (in person) and Beer Here's Christian Skovdal-Andersen (virtually) on January 29 as the beer gets it grand reveal in a collaborative showcase at Fitzroy's Bonny Bar.
You'll be able to take in flights of the following five beers for $25, or supersize to a $45 flight which includes Vietnamese beer snacks from Vinh Long 2.
