John Cope Williams – aka Better Beer Imports – is one of the best known characters in Aussie beer, from his days turning Cookie into one of Melbourne's first craft beer destinations through almost 15 years of bringing amazing NZ beers to our shores.
And now he's launching his own brewing company in partnership with one of his oldest mates in beer, Steve Matthews, the former Bridge Road and Hargreaves Hill brewer currently at the helm at Golden Hills.
The new operation is called SURE Brewing, and we'll have plenty more about them on the site soon, but in essence it's going to be a home for the beers they love to drink, each accompanied by a playlist of the music they love to spin.
The first two releases are a classic NZ Pilsner and a nice 'n' bitter West Coast IPA called True and 100% Dynamight respectively.
The SURE team will be launching them at three venues across Melbourne from March 24 to 26, followed by a party at Little Hop on March 27, details as follows:
Northside Launch: The Catfish, Fitzroy
MARCH 24 – 5pm to late
Eastside Launch: Beer 360, Richmond
MARCH 25 – 5pm to late
Southside Launch: Chronicles Bar, St Kilda
MARCH 26 – 5pm to late
SURE 100% DYNAMIGHT: Little Hop, Fitzroy
100% VINYL DJ SETS
MARCH 27 – midday to late
As for the name, fancy check out one of this new brewing company's launch party? Sure.
