As with the rise and rise of craft beer over the past decade or so, the local distilling industry has undergone its own welcome renaissance. Indeed, given the similarities you'll often find those small breweries and distillers being close collaborators, if not actual neighbours.
So it is with Queensland's Burleigh Brewing and Wildflower Gin who have come together on a new beer.
The Burleigh Wildflower Pale Ale is, at heart – and as the name suggests – a pale ale. The key difference is that they've added the distillery's signature botanical spice blend to the brew, effectively as an extra kind-of hop addition. They reckon it's added a citrus and cinnamon element, which sounds rather interesting and quite lovely.
If you'd like to have first taste, head down to the Burleigh Taphouse on December 9 from 6pm where they'll be pouring the new beer, plus plenty of others, and have local rock band Chutney playing live.
