GABS 2024 World Record Beer Tasting Attempt

Before the final session of the GABS 2024 winter season, the festival team is joining forces with Stomping Ground Brewing Co for a massive beer tasting.

Attendees will gain access to GABS' new location at the Melbourne Showgrounds more than an hour before the public session kicks off at midday then get to take part in a guided beer tasting alongside hundreds of other beer lovers. The goal is to beat the current world record for biggest beer tasting of 1,243.

Stomping Ground co-founder Steve Jeffares says: "When we owned GABS, this was an idea on my to-do list. When we sold GABS, I suggested to [new owner] Mike that I thought GABS was ideally placed to do it and have some fun with it.

"Later, after COVID had died down, he asked if it was OK to do it and I said we'd love to be the brewery involved in the first year or two."

As a result, four of Stomping Ground's beers will feature in the guided tasting, hosted by industry experts.

If you'd like to be part of it, you can purchase tickets that include:

  • the four tasters
  • a limited edition t-shirt
  • GABS souvenir glass
  • GABS Beer Safari voucher pad with $250 in offers at participating venues
  • early access to the Sunday session (ie you don't need a separate ticket for the main session)

Tickets for the World Record attempt cost $45pp but Crafty Pint readers can save 20 percent by using the link below.

Doors open at 10.30am with the tasting set to kick off at 11am.
