Brewer, designers, writers, podcasters and anyone else within the wider Aussie beer media landscape can now enter their best efforts into the country's largest beer competition, with Melbourne Royal opening submissions for the 2025 Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA).
Now into its third decade, the major annual competition is set to announce its 2025 winners and hand out trophies at an awards presentation dinner on May 15. To give you and idea of the scale of this beast, the 2024 event – at which Stone & wood took out the major title - attracted 2,500 entries from 412 breweries across 22 countries.
The 2025 edition will see 14 major trophies up for grabs, as well as 25 category trophies, and included within those are a new Cider and Perry category, four new trophies and three new beer classes.
Given the absence of the Independent Beer Awards in 2025, the Independent Brewers Association (IBA) and Melbourne Royal will be celebrating the indie vibe with two special trophies recognisig independent breweries - Champion Australian Independent Beer and Champion Australian Independent Brewery.
