There's a festival within a festival over the coming weeks as Wayward becomes "Gayward" for the duration of the Sydney Pride Festival.
From February 13 to March 9 their Camperdown taproom will be hosting a cornucopia of fun and creative events fit for celebrating the city's colourful LGBTQI+ community, all the while raising money for the The Gender Centre. And, naturally, they've come up with a beer fit for the occasion: the Gayward Fruity Pale Ale.
Here's a taste of what's in store:
- Fat Muses - Pack your pencils for fat life drawing on February 13 from 7-10pm. Details and tickets here.
- 'Gayward' Drag Charity Night - Drag Race Down Under's Etcetera Etcetera, alongside Gothica Marika & Jim Junkie, will host a night of flamboyant fun on February 21 from 7pm. Entry is by gold coin donation and table bookings are recommended here.
- Mardi Gras Art Battle - A special iteration of Art Battle features 12 LGBTQI+ artists competing over three rounds, before the champion is crowned. Starts 3pm on February 23, with DJs all afternoon and artist markets all day in the laneway.
- Best Mates Comedy - Have a laugh with a rainbow-powered lineup featuring some of the funniest LGBTQIA+ comedians including Annie Boyle, Elysia Hall, Chris Knight, Brigitta Brown, Andy Procopis, Kimberley Snow and Chris Matthews-Darby. It's happening on February 27 and you can book here.
- Pride of the Sea Shanties - Join the crew for a camp celebration of a cappella singing and experience the vibe as the barrel room reverberates to the sound of sea shanties. Starts 7pm and they'll have a $26 burger & pint deal and happy hour all night.
