It's fair to say that without the explosion of craft beer in the US over the past three decades or so, the beer landscape in Australia, even globally, wouldn't look anything like it does today.
Sure, brewers there took inspiration from much of what had gone before – and still do – but the way in which they have helped take the beer world to a previously unimagined level is truly remarkable.
Little wonder that many beer lovers make it a tour of the States a must do life event, often more than once. If it's something you've considered, then there's a trip setting setting off in September this year (2016) that should be just what the doctor ordered.
The guided tour lined up by Peregrine Travel Centre will call into six cities, visiting many of the best craft breweries and bars along the way.
The six cities are New York City, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Diego and Los Angeles. Among the breweries on the agenda are Brooklyn Brewery (pictured), Sixpoint, Rogue Distillery, Sierra Nevada, Napa Valley, Russian River, Lagunitas, Stone Brewing and Ballast Point.
Guests will also attend the Fresh Hops Craft Beer Festival in Portland.
