The much-loved Craft Beer Fight Club at the Dove & Olive – where brewers compete beer-for-beer and the audience decides on the winner – is taking on a slightly different format for 2016. Well, the format is actually much the same but they're condensing the action and putting something of a grand final on the horizon.
How it will work is thus: instead of a monthly event, they'll be holding it bi-monthly. And instead of two brewers going head to head, there may be more. The winning brewer of each of the four rounds through the year will go through to a Grand Finale to be held during Sydney Craft Beer Week, meaning the final will feature the best of the best from 2016.
Round One takes place on February 14 with a ValenTINNIES Day special, featuring only canned beer from:
You'll have a brewer or representative from each of the breweries on hand to guide you through their chosen beer and argue their case for their beer being better than the others. The event will be impartially guest-hosted by Mikey the "Barley Cowboy" from Wayward Brewing.
The food menu on the day will feature decidedly anti-Valentines Day specials that you'd generally avoid when trying to impress – think messy BBQ pork ribs, garlicky ribettes and gluttonous sweet treats.
Tickets are only $30 which gets you a beer from each brewery, a whole lot of interesting information from some fine brewers, plenty of laughs and a generally excellent afternoon out.
These events tend to get popular, so book your spot here ASAP.
