Barrel Aged & Cellared Beer Tasting at Flat Rock Brew Cafe

If you've been remotely interested in what's happening in the craft beer world in the past couple of years, it's more than likely you've tried a beer that's been barrel aged. But do you know why it was barrel aged?

Do you know what barrels do to the flavour? What's the difference between barrels? How long do you put beer in barrels? Why is it becoming so popular?

Find out everything you want to know (or didn't know but which was so interesting you can't believe you'd never asked before) when the Flat Rock Brew Cafe team of brewer Vince, owner Karl and bar manager Tom host their first barrel aged and cellared beer tasting.

The brewpub has an interesting selection of beers ageing in barrels in their cellar so they'll be pulling out a few of their own, plus some truly excellent examples from elsewhere in Australia and abroad. The six beers on offer will be:

  • Flat Rock – Strong Sour Saison (Gold medal winner)
  • Flat Rock – Lark Whiskey Barrel Aged Imperial Russian Stout (Silver award winner)
  • Stone – Arrogant Bastard Oaked Aged
  • Nail Brewing – Clout Stout 2013 and 2015
  • Birra Del Borgo – L'Equilabrista 2012

It's an absolute bargain price of $30, which includes tastings of all the beers.

Email flatrockbrewcafe@iinet.net.au to make a booking – spaces are very limited to this one so be in quick.

It'll be held upstairs at the cafe and kicks off at 7pm sharp.
