Melbourne's southeast is quite the thriving hub for brewing these days, but the first of today's craft brewers to set up home there was 2 Brothers.
The brewery formed by brothers Andrew and David Ong, inspired by their time in the States, was operating in Moorabbin for years before the likes of Boatrocker, Riders, Kaiju!, Bad Shepherd and Dainton started eyeing up the region.
They've spent the early part of 2016 giving their home a new look. The Beer Hall was closed for a few weeks to allow for the installation of heaps more taps (there will now be 15 pouring different beers and ciders) and an "industrial beer garden".
There will be extended hours and guest food trucks to keep visitors fed as well as watered.
The new venue opens to the public on April 7 but the big bash to celebrate this rebirth is on April 9. It's invite only and that invite gets you heaps of 2 Brothers beers & ciders, including some rarities held back for the occasion, food and entertainment – all on the house.
We've been given five VIP double passes by Andrew and Dave to give away to our readers. So if you'd like to be in with a chance of winning one, here's how you can:
- Facebook: Like the event post on the Crafty page and tag the name of the person you'd like to take along with you. We'll pick two people at random to attend on April 3.
- Crafty Cabal members: If you're a Cabalista, enter the ballot in your member's area before April 3 and we'll draw three people at random to attend.
The opening party runs from 6pm to 10pm on April 9. Good luck!
