Steve Aid at The Local Taphouse (VIC)

If you've spent any amount of time at The Local Taphouse in St Kilda, particularly if you've attended an Ale Stars or one of the venue's many other events, you'll have come across Steve Roberts.

Steve (pictured bottom right above) is less a regular, more part of the furniture, a piece of the jigsaw that has helped make the pub what it's become. And right now he's going through a tough time.

The venue staff tell us: "Our mate Steve is battling leukemia so we're passing the hat around to help him get back on his feet when he leaves hospital.

"We're going to have a few quiet beers on Sunday December 4, from midday, to honour the great man (but without too much fanfare - he'd prefer it that way)."

There's live music, food and beer that's been donated by Stomping Ground, Colonial, Wolf of the Willows, Bad Shepherd, Riders and Balter. All proceeds will go directly to Steve.

The idea is that, when he gets out of hospital, things like rent are taken care of, at least for a while.

All are welcome and, if you're unable to make it but would like to lend a hand, you can donate here.
