Shambles Brewery was founded in Hobart, Tasmania in 2016 and has developed a reputation for producing high-quality beers in a great location in the heart of the city.

Continued growth means that the brewery is now looking for a senior brewer to join their team.


JOB DESCRIPTION: SENIOR BREWER

Shambles is looking for an enthusiastic, senior brewer to help lead our production team. We are seeking someone who loves beer as much as we do, who shares our passion for producing high quality beers, and has the skills, understanding and creativity to not only brew beer, but also help us continue to innovate and grow.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum three years’ experience brewing beer in a commercial operation
  • Formal brewing education desirable. Relevant studies in chemistry, biology, engineering etc. also desirable but not essential
  • RSA (valid in TAS, can be obtained after commencing)
  • Valid Australian Driver’s license
  • Forklift license desirable but not essential
  • Canning machine operation experience desirable
  • Good understanding of Excel, Word and other software applicable to brewing and record keeping

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Brewing, cellaring, kegging and canning operations and all associated activities (transfers, dry hopping, yeast management, keg/tank cleaning etc.)
  • Production planning
  • Recipe design
  • Raw materials handling
  • Work safely and efficiently in accordance with OHS standards
  • Follow SOP’s, help to improve and develop new SOP’s
  • Quality control (both measurement and sensory analysis)
  • Troubleshooting of problems throughout the brewing process
  • Assist warehousing and logistics
  • Maintenance tasks
  • Assist with inventory management
  • Data entry and record keeping
  • Assistance with relevant brewery marketing activities, including events and festivals etc.

In addition to the above, our ideal candidate is a good human with great communication skills and a sense of humour. Physical fitness and a strong work ethic are also essential (brewing is hard work!)
